Tampa Bay’s Best Late Night Tacos: Where to Eat After Hours

It’s midnight. Maybe later. The night’s winding down, but your stomach is just getting started. You need real food—not gas station rollers, not drive-thru regret, not whatever’s been sitting under a heat lamp since 6 PM. You need late night tacos.

Taco Bus has been feeding Tampa Bay’s night owls since 1995, long before food trucks were cool and long before “late night eats” became a lifestyle. When the rest of the city shuts down, we’re still here, serving up fresh, authentic Mexican street food to anyone who’s hungry enough to find us.

Tampa Bay’s Award-Winning Late Night Spot

This isn’t a side hustle for us—it’s part of who we are. Creative Loafing’s “Best of the Bay” readers have named Taco Bus the Best Late Night Restaurant year after year: 2024, 2023, 2022, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, and 2011. That’s not a fluke—that’s a decade-plus legacy of showing up when everyone else has closed.

Back in 2011, we also took home Best Drunk Eats, which… yeah, that tracks. Whether you’re stumbling out of Ybor or wrapping up a late shift, Taco Bus has been the move for as long as most Tampa Bay locals can remember.

We built our reputation on being the place you go when everywhere else is closed and you refuse to settle. That reputation isn’t going anywhere.

Where to Find Us After Hours

Not every location keeps the same hours, so here’s the breakdown for late-night missions:

Tampa/MLK and Plant City are open 24 hours, so you can snag your favorite menu item anytime, day or night.

Clearwater Beach stays open until midnight Sunday through Thursday and 1 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. Perfect for post-beach bonfires or winding down after a night out on the strip.

Land O’ Lakes/Bexley is open until 11 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, with Sunday through Thursday hours until 9 PM.

Lutz/Wesley Chapel, Treasure Island, and Polk City are open until 10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays—solid options if you’re craving late-ish tacos without the full midnight run.

Tampa/Adamo closes at 7 PM, so it’s an early-evening stop rather than a late-night one—catch it before dinner winds down and it’s got you covered.

For exact hours at every location, check the locations page before you head out—but know that when the cravings hit late, we’ve got options.

What to Order at Midnight

Late night calls for something hearty. This isn’t the time for restraint. A loaded burrito stuffed with carnitas, rice, beans, and all the fixings? That’s the one. A quesadilla with grilled chicken and a side of chips and salsa? Absolutely. Our tortas—Mexican sandwiches piled high with your choice of protein, cheese, and fresh toppings—are another fan favorite when you need something substantial. (Guy Fieri called ours “the best torta I’ve ever had,” so you know they deliver.)

And if you’re out with a crew, everyone can get exactly what they want. Vegan friend? We’ve got PlantFare and vegan “steak.” Gluten-free? Plenty of options. No one has to compromise, even at midnight.

Order From Your Phone, Eat From Your Couch

Don’t feel like going anywhere? We get it. Nights out are fun, but sometimes the best late-night move is staying exactly where you are. Order delivery straight from taco-bus.com, track your order, and eat in your pajamas. No pants required, no judgment given—just good food at your door.

Satisfy the Craving
