Since our first bus rolled onto the streets of Tampa in 1995, our mission has been simple: to serve authentic, fresh, and delicious Mexican food to the community. But over the decades, we’ve learned that being a local business is about more than what you serve—it’s about who you serve, both inside and outside our locations.
Taco Bus is a part of the fabric of Florida. We’re your go-to spot for a late-night burrito, your catering choice for life’s big moments, and, most importantly, your neighbor. We’ve always believed that when our community thrives, we thrive. Today, we want to share a few stories that highlight this core part of our identity: our unwavering commitment to the people of Tampa Bay and beyond.

Always Answering the Call for First Responders
Our first responders are the bedrock of our community’s safety and well-being. They work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, and showing our gratitude has always been a priority.
Over the years, we’ve had the honor of providing thousands of meals to these local heroes. We’ve partnered with organizations like Express Beverage of Tampa to feed hundreds of Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies and have delivered over 300 meals to the Tampa Police Department and their communications staff. It’s a small gesture of thanks for the immense sacrifices they make every day to keep our neighborhoods safe.
Standing with Our Neighbors Through Thick and Thin
Florida is no stranger to challenges, and in tough times, we believe in locking arms with our community.
This is especially true during hurricane season. When storms have impacted the Bay Area, our first thought is always for the safety of our team and neighbors. We’ve been proud to launch initiatives that provide direct support, such as donating 100% of proceeds from gift card sales to our staff members affected by the aftermath. It’s our way of ensuring the Taco Bus family is taken care of, so we can get back to taking care of you.
This spirit of support continued during the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. We pivoted quickly to serve our community in new ways. When essential items became scarce, we launched our “Bus-Load of Essentials” program, offering everything from paper towels to proteins right from our locations. Simultaneously, we partnered with community organizations to ensure that children who were out of school still had access to warm meals, reaffirming our commitment to stand by our neighbors, no matter the challenge.
These moments aren’t just entries in our history; they are the moments that define who we are.
Honoring Our Heroes: A Commitment to Local Veterans
Serving those who have served our country is a cause very close to our hearts, and during the challenging times of the pandemic, this commitment took on special importance.
We were honored to partner with Liberty Manor for Veterans, a local non-profit dedicated to providing housing and support to veterans who have fallen on hard times. As part of our community response during the Coronavirus crisis, we delivered weekly meals—complete with tacos, chips, and salsa—to feed dozens of veterans across their five local locations.
It was a privilege to give back to these brave men and women and to support an organization doing such vital work, especially when they needed it most.
Stepping Up When It Matters Most
When times get tough, Taco Bus rolls up its sleeves and gets to work. Earlier this month, as Florida’s SNAP benefits were temporarily suspended during the government shutdown, Taco Bus made sure no child went hungry.
Through the “Kids Eat Free” promotion, families across Tampa Bay could stop by any Taco Bus location and pick up a free kid’s meal — no purchase required, no fine print, just good food for those who needed it most.
It wasn’t about making headlines. It was about neighbors helping neighbors. For countless parents balancing work, uncertainty, and rising costs, that small act of generosity made a big difference.
“For the team at Taco Bus, giving back isn’t a marketing move — it’s part of who we are,” said the company’s leadership. “If we can help even a few families get through a hard week, we’ve done our job.”
This initiative also drew praise across local media, including Creative Loafing Tampa Bay, which highlighted the effort as part of a larger community response from restaurants stepping up to fill the gap.
Because at the end of the day, we’re all in this together — and everyone deserves a good meal.
Fueled by You
Our ability to give back comes directly from you, our loyal fans and customers. Every time you choose Taco Bus, you’re not just getting a meal; you’re supporting a business that reinvests in the community we all share.
So from all of us, thank you for being on this journey with us. We promise to continue “Keepin’ it Chido” by serving great food and supporting our incredible Florida community for many years to come.
